The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been battling for the National Championship since the initial round match a month prior. Since this team is dedicated and concentrated on the major goal, we’ve heard just a hint of what could occur once the season finally concludes.
Essentially — for more than a month, no players were expected to enter the transfer portal from Notre Dame, but as observed during the Christmas period when the Irish added more pass-catchers, the portal is delivering more to South Bend.
Recently, four players made commitments to the Irish via the transfer portal.
Jared Dawson DT — Louisville Cardinals
Elijah Hughes DT — USC Trojans
Jalen Stroman DB — Virginia Tech Hokies
Noah Brunette K — North Carolina Tar Heelsr players
We were aware that Notre Dame aimed to recruit a few defensive linemen from the portal, featuring two formidable players in Dawson and Hughes. Although neither are major stars right now, I believe Notre Dame has demonstrated the ability to maximize the potential of its coaching staff — which may be significant. Aging in the trenches is consistently beneficial. Hughes has several years of eligibility left.
Jalen Stroman entered the 2024 season as a potential day two selection in the NFL Draft, but suffered an injury in the season opener against Vanderbilt and missed the remainder of the season. The Irish persist in excelling with experienced defensive backs from the portal and embrace Stroman’s talent on the team.
Notre Dame secured a kicker in the 2025 recruiting class, but it’s good to note that they will keep bringing in experienced kickers from the portal. Noah Brunette earned recognition as a 2nd Team All-ACC kicker. Pleasant.
A significant reason Notre Dame is competing for a national championship in under a week is due to their actions in the transfer portal — which creates a strong basis for optimism about the recruits Notre Dame will acquire this offseason. Certainly… there will be quite a few departures, but we’ll address that when the time comes.
