Clemson Tigers Enter 2025 Season with Championship Aspirations
The Clemson Tigers, led by head coach Dabo Swinney, are set to kick off the 2025 college football season as one of the nation’s top title contenders. After a surprising run to the College Football Playoff last year, the Tigers are back with a vengeance and a roster brimming with talent.
At the center of it all is quarterback Cade Klubnik, who’s coming off a breakout season and is widely projected as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. While it remains to be seen whether he can meet that lofty expectation, the buzz surrounding him is undeniable. Last season, Klubnik threw for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns, with just six interceptions, while also adding 463 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground.
Clemson’s roster doesn’t stop with Klubnik. They boast one of the top defenses in the country, potentially featuring three future first-round NFL Draft picks. And with Swinney back in form, Clemson looks every bit like the powerhouse program it was earlier in the decade.
Longtime ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum echoed that sentiment with strong praise for the Tigers. “I think they’re a sure thing to get back,” Finebaum said. “They might even be a legitimate title threat. They’ve got the best quarterback in the country in Klubnik, and that defense is elite.”
Finebaum didn’t stop there, adding that Swinney “is back now,” and calling this Clemson’s best team since their last national championship appearance in 2019.
After a few underwhelming seasons, Clemson appears poised to reclaim its place among college football’s elite. Their journey begins on August 30 against LSU in a highly anticipated opener.
