Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers closed out the week strong on the recruiting trail, continuing their recent hot streak.
On Friday, four-star offensive tackle JB Shabazz from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, committed to the Vols, choosing Tennessee over Ohio State and South Carolina.
JB Shabazz’s ranking presents a unique case you don’t often see in recruiting. While On3’s industry ratings place him at No. 352 overall nationally, Rivals sees him quite differently—ranking him as the No. 56 overall prospect, the No. 6 offensive tackle, and the No. 7 player in North Carolina for the 2026 class.
Despite the discrepancy, Shabazz’s offer sheet reflects the high regard coaches have for his potential. In addition to Tennessee, Ohio State, and South Carolina, the lengthy tackle also picked up offers from powerhouse programs like Georgia, Penn State, Florida, Auburn, and North Carolina, among others.
With his commitment, Shabazz becomes the 21st addition to Tennessee’s 2026 class and the 10th four-star prospect to pledge to Josh Heupel. He also marks the second four-star offensive tackle in the class, joining Gabriel Osenda out of the Baylor School in Clearwater, Florida.
