Tennessee football’s fortune in the transfer portal remains on a decline, as the Vols lose out on a leading transfer offensive lineman.
Tennessee’s goal to recruit additional offensive linemen via the portal faced a setback on Tuesday morning.
Emmanuel Pregnon, a highly coveted transfer offensive lineman from USC, confirmed his commitment to the University of Oregon on Tuesday morning, as first reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3. Pregnon toured various schools, such as Tennessee, LSU, and Oregon, before finally selecting the Ducks.
Tennessee’s offensive line is experiencing major alterations this offseason. The team has already lost center Cooper Mays and right guard Javontez Spraggins to graduation, and may also lose left guard Andrej Karic if the NCAA denies him another year of eligibility.
A significant offseason addition for Tennessee thus far is Wendell Moe, an ex-All-Pac 12 guard from Arizona. Moe is anticipated to occupy the right guard spot. If the NCAA does not approve Karic’s additional year of eligibility, Pregnon would have been a solid candidate for the left guard position.
Vols head coach Josh Heupel and his team have obtained just two commitments from the transfer portal to date, concentrating on bolstering both lines of scrimmage and the wide receiver spot ahead of the 2025 season.
Those are roles of significant necessity for the Vols. Regrettably, Tennessee has not achieved much success thus far in securing a significant number of the targets they are pursuing in the transfer portal.
