On Monday, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported that San Diego State would be hiring former Michigan football coach Roy Manning for its defensive team. Manning served as a coach with the Wolverines for three years. He began as a GA in 2011, returning to Ann Arbor in 2013 to serve as the outside linebackers coach, and then moved to the cornerback coach role in 2014.
Following his time in Ann Arbor, Manning moved to Washington State, where he served as coach for three seasons. Manning attended UCLA in 2018 and subsequently served as the cornerbacks coach at Oklahoma from 2019 to 2021. Manning’s latest role was at USC from 2022 to 2023, where he served as the outside linebackers coach and held the title of Associate Head Coach.
Manning’s role at San Diego State remains uncertain, but after departing from the Trojans, the ex-Wolverine has returned to the college scene.
