JUST IN: UConn Standout Star Honored as BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for Sixth Occasion.

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women’s basketball forward Sarah Strong was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season, as revealed by the conference on Monday.

Strong recorded averages of 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game during two victories last week.

In the game against Xavier, Strong contributed 15 points, along with seven rebounds and five steals. In a victory against Georgetown, she recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and three steals, matching her career high with six assists.

Strong has achieved double-digit scoring in every one of the 17 games this season. She tops the Huskies in rebounds, blocks, and steals and ranks second in scoring and assists.

Graduate student Azzi Fudd earned a spot on the weekly honor roll by averaging 22.0 points per game and achieving shooting percentages of 63.0 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from beyond the arc.

UConn, ranked sixth, will be on the road against St. John’s (11-5, 1-4) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SNY.
