Great news for Oklahoma: Four-star 2026 wide receiver Daniel Odom has officially shut down his recruitment and reaffirmed his commitment to the Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners just received a major boost on the recruiting front, securing a firm commitment from one of their top 2026 prospects. Wide receiver Daniel Odom has officially ended his recruitment and reaffirmed his pledge to OU.

Odom committed to Oklahoma in January 2025, but since then, he had kept his options open. Multiple programs — including Florida State, Washington, and Colorado — maintained communication, and speculation recently surfaced that Odom might be reconsidering his commitment.

That speculation came to an end when Odom took to social media to issue a firm statement.

“This is one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in my life,” Odom wrote. “With that being said, I am only one person & I can only choose one school. After much prayer and consideration, I have decided that I will not be choosing another university.
Effective immediately, I’m shutting down my recruitment and am 100-percent committed to Oklahoma. BOOMER.
Please don’t take my non-responsiveness as disrespect. I wish other schools nothing but the best and ask that my decision be respected.”

This announcement marks a significant win for Oklahoma. Odom is currently the third-highest-rated commit in the Sooners’ 2026 class and represents a foundational piece of their future offense.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Odom is rated as the No. 254 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 41 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 27 player in California. The independent 247Sports Network rankings list him as the No. 44 receiver and No. 32 overall player in the Golden State.

Here’s what 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins had to say in his scouting report on Odom:

“He has all the physical tools to be a dominant outside receiver at the college level. A good-sized wideout pushing 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Odom plays a physical brand of football. He’s quick off the line, with strong releases and the ability to beat press coverage. He uses his frame to create separation and isn’t afraid to fight through contact. He’s got strong hands, good top-end speed, and can consistently get behind defenses. He excels in contested situations and has a complete, well-rounded skillset. Odom has a high ceiling and Power 4-ready talent.”

Odom most recently visited Norman during the “ChampU BBQ” event in late June — a visit that ultimately solidified his decision to stick with the Sooners.

For Oklahoma, locking in Odom is more than just retaining a blue-chip talent. It sends a clear message: the Sooners are building momentum on the trail, and they’re not letting go of their key pieces easily.
