Georgia Commit Seven Cloud Arrested Following Domestic Battery Charges
Georgia football has faced several hurdles in its pursuit of top junior college defensive lineman Seven Cloud, and now, a serious legal issue poses the latest—and possibly most significant—obstacle.
According to a report from the Butler County Times-Gazette, Cloud was arrested in April and is currently facing multiple domestic battery charges.
Cloud, an All-American defensive tackle at Butler Community College and the No. 1-ranked JUCO prospect in the nation, appeared via Zoom in front of a judge on July 14 in Kansas’ 13th Judicial District. He was formally charged with domestic battery, classified as a Class B misdemeanor. The arrest stems from an incident on April 20, when the Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call. Authorities alleged that Cloud “knowingly caused physical contact with another person in a rude, angry, or insulting manner.” He was later released on bond.
Cloud has been committed to Georgia since December as part of the Bulldogs’ 2026 recruiting class. However, this legal development casts significant doubt over his future in Athens.
Neither head coach Kirby Smart nor the University of Georgia has issued a statement regarding the matter. Given that Cloud has not officially joined the program, the coaching staff currently has limited options, though rescinding his scholarship offer remains a possibility.
This situation is particularly notable amid a broader backdrop of off-field issues that have impacted Georgia’s football program in recent years. While past incidents have involved players already on the roster, Cloud’s case is different in that his status as a commit—rather than a signed player—means the program may opt to wait for the legal process to play out before making any final decisions.
