Georgia Scores Major Win Over Georgia Tech with Commitment of 4⭐️ Legacy DL Anthony Lonon Jr.

Georgia scored a major win over Georgia Tech nearly four months before the rivals clash on the football field. On Saturday, the Bulldogs secured a commitment from 4-star defensive lineman Anthony Lonon Jr., keeping the talented Athens native from heading to their in-state rival.

Lonon’s pledge is a significant recruiting victory not just for his on-field potential, but also for the legacy he carries. He is the son of former Georgia player Anthony Lonon Sr., and his commitment continues the tradition of Clarke Central High School standouts choosing to stay home and play for the Bulldogs.

A dominant presence on the field and a standout in the classroom, Lonon boasts a 4.2 GPA in high school. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 292 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, the 38th-ranked defensive lineman, and the 35th-best player in the state of Georgia.

With Lonon’s commitment, Kirby Smart’s 2026 recruiting class now stands at 29 members, including five defensive linemen.

As he prepares for his senior season this fall, Lonon is looking to build on an impressive junior campaign in which he tallied 51 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks.
