Former KU basketball guard Noah Shelby selects his transfer destination

Noah Shelby, former Kansas Jayhawk, has officially announced his transfer to Texas A\&M, reports The Athletic.

Noah Shelby was a four-star transfer as part of the 2024 transfer class, which also included fellow four-star additions AJ Storr, Rylan Griffin, and Zeke Mayo. This class was ultimately ranked as the third-best transfer class in the nation.

Shelby transferred from Rice, where he averaged just over 11 minutes per game, scoring nearly four points while contributing close to one rebound and one assist per contest. He recorded double-digit scoring in three separate games.

However, his move to Kansas didn’t yield the success that either Shelby or the Jayhawks had hoped for.

Last season, Kansas entered the NCAA Tournament as a seventh seed but faced a first-round exit after a 79-72 loss to Arkansas. The Jayhawks finished the regular season with a 21-13 overall record and an 11-9 conference mark, which only pushed them to the Big 12 quarterfinals before falling to Arizona.

Shelby redshirted that season and didn’t see any game action before transferring in early July.

Now, Shelby joins an interesting group that has made the move from Lawrence, Kansas, to College Station, Texas.

He links up with former Kansas players Zach Clemence and Rylan Griffin, who have also committed to new Texas A\&M head coach Bucky McMillan.

Clemence averaged five minutes per game during his redshirt junior season before suffering a season-ending injury just eight games in. In that shortened season, he scored a season-high four points in Kansas’ 76-63 loss to Creighton during the Big 12-Big East Battle.

Griffin, a transfer from Alabama, averaged 20 minutes per game last season, putting up six points on average and making 41 three-pointers—the third-most among Kansas players. His season-high was 17 points in a double-overtime loss to the Houston Cougars, who went on to finish as the national runner-up.

With McMillan welcoming a transfer class featuring three former Kansas players, it’s reasonable to expect increased production from Shelby, Clemence, and Griffin as they look to make their mark at Texas A\&M.
