Ryan Grubb spent the 2024 season as the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator after longtime colleague Kalen DeBoer departed Washington to become the head coach at Alabama.
Although Nick Sheridan held the role of Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024, DeBoer reassigned him to a co-offensive coordinator position for 2025. That move created an opening for Grubb, who left the Seahawks after just one season to reunite with DeBoer in Tuscaloosa. Grubb now takes over an Alabama offense that ranked 8th in the SEC in total yardage last season but boasts an explosive weapon in wide receiver Ryan Williams.
On Tuesday, Grubb expressed his enthusiasm about the Crimson Tide’s offense heading into 2025.
“I’m really excited about the way the O-line’s playing—the physicality they’re bringing and the leadership Parker (Brailsford) has shown at center,” Grubb said.
Brailsford, who previously played under DeBoer and Grubb at Washington, has been a critical addition. However, Alabama’s offensive line will continue to be anchored by junior Kadyn Proctor, a second-team All-SEC selection in 2024.
“KP … it’s been so fun to coach him,” Grubb added. “He’s a hungry guy with incredible God-given ability, but what stands out is how hard he works and how diligent he is with his preparation. Seeing that, along with the progress already happening in the quarterback room, really fires me up.”
