The Milwaukee Brewers are currently facing the Philadelphia Phillies, but the game has taken an unfortunate turn with a pair of injuries—one to star outfielder Christian Yelich.
According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Yelich exited Sunday’s game after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.
“Christian Yelich left Sunday’s game with a right hand contusion after being hit by a pitch in the first inning,” Feinsand reported on X (formerly Twitter).
Shortly after, the Brewers were dealt another scare.
“Now José Quintana gets smoked in the knee by a 99 mph line drive that ricocheted all the way back to the dugout. But he’s going to try and stay in the game,” noted Curt Hogg.
Yelich has been a key contributor this season, hitting .233 with a team-high 12 home runs and 39 RBIs. Just a night earlier, he broke out with a four-hit performance, including two home runs in Milwaukee’s May 31 win over the Phillies. After missing 81 games last season due to a back injury, Yelich had been regaining his form—making this latest setback particularly frustrating.
The Brewers will be hoping Yelich’s hand contusion is minor and doesn’t sideline him for long as they continue their push through the season.
