Alabama on the Brink of Adding Another 4-Star Quarterback for 2026

You have to give credit to Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer for the impressive momentum he’s building on the recruiting trail. The Crimson Tide have been making waves with the 2026 class, and now another highly regarded prospect appears to be leaning toward Tuscaloosa.

According to insider Steve Wiltfong, 4-star quarterback and Utah native Tayden Kaawa is expected to shut down his recruitment on Monday. Multiple expert predictions have Alabama as the frontrunner to land him. Could a major commitment be just around the corner for the Tide?

4-Star QB Tayden Kaawa Expected to Commit to Alabama on Monday

This could be a major addition for the Crimson Tide. According to Rivals, Tayden Kaawa is a 4-star quarterback and currently ranked No. 13 nationally at his position. After receiving 18 scholarship offers during his recruitment, Kaawa has narrowed his choices to Alabama, BYU, and Boise State—though all signs are pointing toward Tuscaloosa.

If Kaawa commits as expected, it would mark head coach Kalen DeBoer’s second 4-star quarterback pledge for the 2026 class. Earlier this offseason, Jett Thomalla flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama. Thomalla, another impressive signal-caller, is ranked No. 21 among quarterbacks by Rivals and is the top overall prospect in Nebraska.

Once Alabama offered Thomalla, there was little doubt he’d shift his focus to the SEC—and that’s exactly what happened. Now, Kaawa appears to be following a similar path.

Unless something unexpected happens, it would be a surprise if Kaawa doesn’t announce for Alabama. We’ll find out for sure on Monday, but DeBoer and his staff seem poised to land another key piece for the future of the program.
