John Calipari has just wrapped up his first season as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
After a 15-year run at the helm of the Kentucky Wildcats from 2009 to 2024, Calipari made the high-profile move to Arkansas — and wasted no time making an impact. Navigating a challenging SEC schedule, he guided the Razorbacks to an NCAA Tournament berth as a No. 10 seed.
In the tournament, Arkansas made waves by knocking off higher-seeded opponents Kansas and St. John’s, signaling a strong start to the Calipari era in Fayetteville.
As the Razorbacks gear up for their second season under Calipari, the program received a major boost: former blue-chip recruit Karter Knox is returning to campus after testing the NBA Draft waters.
Calipari and his staff shared a glimpse of early training sessions at the team’s facility, building excitement for the upcoming season.
“Can’t wait to get started with this group!” Calipari said. “Karter will be joining soon. Excited to have these guys on campus and coach them!”
Last season, Karter Knox, a former five-star recruit, made a solid impact in his freshman campaign with the Razorbacks, averaging 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game. His decision to return to Arkansas after testing the NBA Draft waters gives the team a significant boost heading into Year 2 under head coach John Calipari.
However, despite Knox’s return, Arkansas will face notable roster turnover. Key contributors like Adou Thiero have declared for the NBA Draft, while standout guard Boogie Fland has entered the transfer portal, leaving gaps in the lineup that Calipari and his staff will need to address.
Calipari, already regarded as one of the most accomplished head coaches in college basketball history, is embracing a new chapter with the Razorbacks. Known for his success at Kentucky and Memphis, he’s now setting out to build a new legacy in Fayetteville — one that’s already off to a promising start.
