BREAKING NEWS: Springdale Man Arrested in Double Homicide at Devil’s Den State Park

Springdale, AR (July 30, 2025) — Arkansas State Police have arrested a Springdale man in connection with the brutal double homicide that took place at Devil’s Den State Park over the weekend. James Andrew McGann, 28, was taken into custody at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, following an intensive multi-day investigation.

McGann faces two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who were fatally attacked while hiking in the state park on Saturday, July 26. The couple was accompanied by their two young daughters, ages 7 and 9, who were unharmed in the incident and are now in the care of family members.

The arrest was made at a local business in Springdale by special agents with the Arkansas State Police. Authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive at this time.

A press conference was held Wednesday evening to address the arrest, with state officials, including Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, expected to make public statements regarding the ongoing investigation and the community impact of the tragedy.

“This is a heartbreaking case that has shocked the state,” one official said. “Our thoughts remain with the Brink family as we pursue justice.”

McGann is currently being held without bond. The investigation is ongoing. More details are expected to be released in the coming days.
