Baltimore Orioles pitcher Charlie Morton etched his name in franchise history with a commanding performance against the Chicago White Sox.
Baltimore secured their first series sweep of the season on Sunday with a victory over the White Sox. It was a rare bright spot in what has been a challenging season for the Orioles, who currently sit last in the American League East.
The team is now under the direction of interim manager Tony Mansolino, who took over after the Orioles parted ways with Brandon Hyde amid the club’s struggles.
Since Mansolino took the helm, the Orioles have shown signs of improvement, winning six of their last 10 games. This recent success is making it harder for the organization to overlook him when considering candidates for the full-time managerial position.
Pitcher Charlie Morton has also turned things around, winning his last two starts after a tough 0-7 start to the season. His ERA, which had been alarmingly high, now sits at 6.20.
Following Sunday’s win over Chicago, the Orioles improved their record to 22-36. Baltimore will next take the field on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.
