Ohio State Recruiting: Jerquaden Guilford, Derrek Cooper Set New Commitment Dates

Two of Ohio State’s top 2026 football recruiting targets—wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford and running back Derrek Cooper—have announced new dates for their college commitments, according to a report from 247Sports.
Guilford, a highly sought-after receiver from Fort Wayne, Indiana, had previously delayed his decision after receiving increased attention from Ole Miss. Now, the four-star pass-catcher is expected to make his commitment soon, as part of a wave of upcoming announcements across the recruiting landscape.
Meanwhile, Derrek Cooper, a five-star running back and one of the Buckeyes’ top priorities, has rescheduled his commitment for July 20. Cooper had initially planned to announce on July 12 but pushed back the date amid increased interest from several powerhouse programs.
In addition to Guilford and Cooper, Ohio State is also closely watching Deuce Geralds, a four-star defensive lineman, who confirmed his commitment date for August 2.
Altogether, these updated timelines reflect the ongoing volatility in the 2026 recruiting cycle. With two major decisions expected Friday and at least three more, including Guilford’s and Cooper’s, in the coming weeks, the next month promises to be pivotal for Ohio State’s recruiting class.
The Buckeyes remain firmly in the mix for all three top targets as head coach Ryan Day and his staff look to build another elite recruiting haul in Columbus.
