There’s no doubt about the deep bond between South Carolina basketball coach Dawn Staley and her former player, A’ja Wilson—a connection that goes both ways, with Wilson often praising Staley for shaping her success in college and the WNBA.
On Wednesday, Staley celebrated Wilson by hosting an “A’One Day” at South Carolina’s basketball camp. On X, Staley shared photos and a brief video of campers sporting Wilson’s signature “A’One” Nike shoes, captioning the post: “Day 3 of @GamecockWBB Camp… it’s @_ajawilson22 A’One Day! Our campers rocked their A’Ones, and I’m loving every moment! Keep shining for the kids, A! Love!”
A’ja Wilson’s signature “A’One” Nike shoes, released on May 6, 2025, just a week before the WNBA season began, sold out in minutes, cementing her status as a dominant force in basketball both on and off the court.
In April, Dawn Staley announced her memoir, *Uncommon Favor: Basketball, North Philly, My Mother, and the Life Lessons I Learned From All Three*, which hit shelves on May 20 and quickly became a *New York Times* bestseller.
Staley’s mentorship was pivotal for Wilson at South Carolina, culminating in 2017 when the Gamecocks, led by Staley and powered by Wilson as the National Player of the Year, won their first national championship.
