Duke has added a notable prospect to its 2026 recruiting class in Taylor Sofilkanich, a 6-foot-4 four-star center ranked among the Top 40 players nationally and currently regarded as the top high school player in New Jersey.
Sofilkanich becomes the first commitment in the 2026 class for head coach Kara Lawson. Given that frontcourt depth was a challenge for Duke this past season—and could remain one next year—her size and presence in the paint will be a significant asset.
She chose Duke over a competitive list of programs, including Indiana, Michigan, Miami, NC State, Penn State, TCU, West Virginia, Stanford, and Vanderbilt.
Sofilkanich also expressed her excitement about playing for Lawson, telling the Asbury Park Press:
“It’s really crazy to think about that because I remember growing up watching her on TV. Being able to play for such a legend is just unbelievable. And her knowledge and skill of basketball is out of this world. So I really am super happy to play for her for the next four years.”
