Power forward Zach Clemence has entered the transfer portal following his third season with the Kansas Jayhawks. The junior is now on his way to the SEC.
After appearing in 52 games for the Kansas Jayhawks over the past three seasons, redshirt junior Zach Clemence has entered the transfer portal. He has now found a new destination in the SEC, the nation’s toughest conference.
On Friday, April 13, Clemence, who spent much of the 2024-25 season on the bench, revealed that he would be transferring to the Texas A&M Aggies under new head coach Bucky McMillan.
Clemence played just 5.3 minutes per game during the last season, contributing 1.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per outing. However, over his three seasons with Kansas, he averaged 1.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while logging more playing time.
Now joining Texas A&M under new head coach Bucky McMillan, Clemence will add depth to the roster as McMillan works to rebuild the team. His versatile skill set, including a consistent shooting touch and the ability to play multiple positions, will be valuable for the Aggies.
Standing at 6-foot-11, Clemence brings a notable size advantage to the forward position and excels in the paint. Despite his tall frame, he’s also a skilled ball handler.
In his first season with Kansas, Clemence had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 11 points against Stony Brook, along with six rebounds and one assist. When he entered the transfer portal, Clemence became the first Kansas player to do so after the 2024-25 season.
The SEC, regarded as the most competitive conference in college basketball during the 2024-25 season, will be a new challenge for Clemence, though many top teams in the conference vied for supremacy—despite the Houston Cougars, a Big 12 team, ultimately claiming the national title.
