Duke’s Kon Knueppel has been the subject of both promising and misleading draft chatter—typical for this time of year, with plenty of gamesmanship in play. That said, a few credible sources have linked him to the Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz, who hold the No. 4 and No. 5 picks, respectively.
There’s also been some buzz about the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 3 showing interest, though that may be a stretch. Still, a potential pairing with fellow Duke product Jared McCain—assuming he’s not moved in a trade, as rumors have suggested—would be intriguing.
Charlotte offers proximity to Duke, but as always, organizational stability is often a bigger factor than geography. In that sense, Utah might be the most appealing landing spot. Not only could Knueppel reunite with former Duke teammate Kyle Filipowski, but he’d also be joining one of the league’s more consistently well-run franchises.
