It’s been an exciting offseason for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Earlier this week, they secured a major commitment from the top quarterback prospect in the 2026 class — Jared Curtis. The standout from Nashville Christian School announced his pledge to Georgia and is expected to join the Bulldogs following his senior season.
But Georgia isn’t slowing down. The Bulldogs have now set their sights on another premier talent from the 2026 class.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Georgia may soon add another elite piece to its recruiting puzzle — another five-star standout.
“Curtis, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, committed to UGA earlier today and told me he’s recruiting No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell the hardest,” Fawcett reported.
Curtis replied to the post with a clear and confident message for Cantwell:
“Let’s make it happen.”
Curtis makes history as the first No. 1 quarterback in the nation to commit to Georgia since Matthew Stafford in 2006.
After an outstanding junior season, Curtis earned both Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Football honors in Tennessee. The 6-foot-4 quarterback threw for 40 touchdowns and rushed for 18 more.
Cantwell, on the other hand, hails from a family of elite athletes. His parents, Christian Cantwell and Terri Steer, are both Olympic shot putters. The 6-foot-8 offensive tackle is also a shot put standout himself and plays high school football at Nixa High School in Missouri.
Looking ahead to the fall, Georgia is once again poised to be one of the top teams in the nation. The Bulldogs will kick off their 2025 season at home on August 30 against Marshall.
While the 2026 Georgia Football schedule is still being finalized, the Bulldogs are already set to face Western Kentucky, Louisville, and Georgia Tech in their non-conference matchups.
