COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After an impressive freshman season with North Carolina women’s basketball, rising sophomore Lanie Grant has been invited to the USA Women’s U19 Trials later this month.
Grant is one of 27 athletes selected to compete for a spot on the 12-player roster that will represent the U.S. at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, held July 12–20 in Brno, Czechia.
This isn’t her first experience with USA Basketball. Grant was part of the 2023 USA U16 Team that captured gold at the FIBA Americas U16 AmeriCup, averaging 11.2 points per game. She added a second gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico.
In her debut season at UNC, Grant made an immediate impact, earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team. She played in all 37 games, posted double-digit scoring in 11 of them, and recorded a career-high 19 points in a comeback win at Louisville. She also received national recognition as the USBWA Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week in December.
Trials begin June 18 in Colorado Springs, with the final U19 roster announced shortly afterward.
