Indiana football has added a major piece to its 2026 recruiting class with a commitment from four-star edge rusher Ronelle Johnson.

Johnson, who attends Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Missouri, chose the Hoosiers over a strong list of offers that includes Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon, Purdue, and Texas A\&M, according to 247Sports.

He is currently ranked as the No. 28 edge rusher and No. 297 overall prospect in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite. The On3 Industry Ranking places him at No. 30 among edge rushers and No. 296 overall.

Johnson’s commitment marks a significant boost for Indiana’s 2026 class, which was already shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent memory. The Hoosiers have emphasized strengthening the defensive line under head coach Curt Cignetti and position coaches Pat Kuntz and Buddha Williams. So far, the program has landed commitments from five defensive linemen, including two edge rushers, signaling a clear focus on building up front.
