A.J. Guyton, the legendary former Indiana guard, has joined the TBT Indiana alumni team Assembly Ball as an assistant coach, the tournament announced Friday afternoon.
“‘It’s up. Let’s get to the (bag),’” Guyton posted on his X account.
Assembly Ball, the TBT Indiana alumni team, has not yet named a head coach, though Adam Ross led the team in 2024. Former Indiana star Christian Watford serves as the team’s general manager.
A.J. Guyton, recently hired as an assistant coach, was a standout at Indiana, earning All-Big Ten honors in 1998 and 2000, Big Ten MVP in 2000, and Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1997. He was also named an All-American in 2000, leading the Big Ten in scoring with 19.7 points per game. Drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft, Guyton played for the Bulls from 2000-02 and briefly for the Golden State Warriors in 2002-03 before an eight-year professional career overseas.
The Assembly Ball roster includes former Indiana guard Jordan Hulls, alongside Race Thompson, Yogi Ferrell, James Blackmon Jr., and Troy Williams as the first five commitments.
The winner of the Indianapolis Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 27, with semifinals on July 31 and the $1 million championship game on August 3.
