The Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball program has extended a scholarship offer to five-star combo guard Deron Rippey Jr., according to a post from his father on X (formerly Twitter).

The Indiana Hoosiers have officially extended a scholarship offer to Deron Rippey Jr., one of the top prospects in the class of 2026. The offer was announced via his father’s post on X (formerly Twitter), adding Indiana to an already impressive list of suitors.
Rippey Jr., a 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard from Blairstown, New Jersey, is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic two-way guards in the country. A rising senior at Blair Academy, Rippey has drawn attention from elite programs across the nation. In recent weeks, he’s added offers from Georgia, Creighton, Tennessee, Miami, Auburn, and Texas Tech. He also holds offers from blue-blood programs including Alabama, Duke, Kentucky, UConn, North Carolina, Villanova, Michigan, Kansas, Purdue, and Texas, among others.
So far, Rippey has taken one official visit—to Louisville last fall—and has made unofficial trips to Villanova and Rutgers. He’s slated to take an official visit to Alabama in September and could visit Indiana in Bloomington later this summer.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Rippey is the No. 19 overall player in the 2026 class, the No. 5 point guard nationally, and the No. 1 prospect in the state of New Jersey.
This spring, Rippey has been one of the standouts on the grassroots circuit. At the NBPA Top 100 Camp, with Indiana head coach Darian DeVries in attendance, he averaged 21.7 points, 4.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in just under 26 minutes per game. He shot 51.1 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three-point range.
247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi had high praise for Rippey following the NBPA camp:
> “Thanks to his strength, athleticism and toughness, Deron Rippey Jr. is arguably the best two-way point guard in the class of 2026. He gets to the rim and scores on powerful drives and can finish with towering slams in the paint—or even on offensive rebounds—all while being able to set up teammates.”
Earlier this spring, Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports noted Rippey’s well-rounded performances for New Heights, highlighting his averages of 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and over 2 steals per game in a 3–1 weekend outing. He also commended Rippey’s defensive impact, growing shooting ability (10-of-23 from three that weekend), and overall athleticism.
During the 2023–24 high school season, Rippey was named the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year after leading Blair Academy to a state championship. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game.
Rippey’s blend of speed, strength, basketball IQ, and scoring versatility makes him one of the most coveted guards in his class. Some analysts have even compared his style and physical profile to NBA standout Tyrese Maxey.
