University Lab Five-Star Lamar Brown Commits to LSU, Shuts Down Recruitment
On July 10, University Lab standout Lamar Brown — the top-ranked recruit in Louisiana — officially committed to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers, making his announcement public and ending his recruitment.
Brown, a dominant 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman and the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, chose to stay home and represent LSU over other national powers including Texas A&M, Texas, and Miami.
What sealed the deal for Brown? The opportunity to represent his home state and play in front of a hometown crowd in Tiger Stadium.
“It just feels good to play for my state and city — not just for three or four years, but even beyond football. I’m blessed to be in this position and ready to play in Tiger Stadium,” Brown said.
He also credited LSU Associate Head Coach Frank Wilson and the entire coaching staff for their consistent presence throughout his recruitment. “Frank Wilson — he’s been on me since day one. The whole staff, I’ve built a relationship with everyone. They all played a part in this moment.”
Now firmly committed, Brown made it clear on social media that his recruitment is officially over:
“I’m locked in, man. Ain’t none of that ‘it ain’t over till the ink dry.’ Everybody had their chance. I’m just blessed to call LSU home. If you’re not with us, then you’re TIGER BAIT,” he wrote on X.
With Brown on board, LSU adds a game-changing presence to its 2026 class — and locks down one of the nation’s premier athletes.

“Being a kid from the area, not everyone gets the chance to stay home and suit up for the home team,” Lamar Brown told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman after announcing his commitment to LSU. “To have that opportunity, to shine on Saturdays in front of your community — it’s a dream. It means a lot for any Louisiana kid.”
Brown, the five-star phenom from Baton Rouge’s University Lab, has continued to emphasize his loyalty to LSU, reiterating that his commitment is firm. The Tigers, meanwhile, remain fully invested in their prized local product.
Rivals’ national scouting director Charles Power recently compared Brown to one of the most dynamic prospects in recent memory. “Lamar Brown is a unique talent — I think of him as the Travis Hunter of linemen,” Power said. “He’s played a lot of offensive line in high school but likely projects as a defensive lineman at the next level.”
At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Brown clocked a 4.8-second 40-yard dash at the Under Armour New Orleans Camp, showcasing elite speed and athleticism for his size. “He’s incredibly versatile and physically gifted — a true freak athlete. LSU has to be thrilled to have him on board,” Power added.
As Brown heads into his senior season at University Lab, he does so with the weight of major expectations and national attention — but also with the full support of a hometown fanbase eager to see one of their own star in Tiger Stadium.
