Wes Moore pulled off a major offseason coup. On Tuesday, NC State revealed the addition of Vanderbilt transfer forward Khamil Pierre, who posted an impressive 20.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2025.
Khamil Pierre showcased her versatility last season at Vanderbilt, shooting 51.2% on two-point attempts and excelling as a rebounder on both ends of the court. As a sophomore, she made significant strides, nearly doubling her assist rate, sharply reducing turnovers, and posting an elite steal rate. Notably, she recorded at least three steals in 18 games, with a standout performance against Evansville in mid-December, where she tallied 42 points, 18 rebounds, and eight steals.
Pierre carried a heavy load at Vanderbilt, with a usage rate exceeding 29%, but at NC State, she won’t need to shoulder as much offensive responsibility, which should boost her efficiency. She’s expected to play both power forward and center in Raleigh, leaning more toward a traditional power forward role than a stretch-four.
Her departure from Vanderbilt was unexpected. In April, Pierre announced she would stay put and not enter the transfer portal, only to withdraw from school just weeks ago, well after the portal closed. Regardless of the reasons for her change of heart, Wes Moore and NC State are thrilled to have her on board.
