As of this past weekend, NC State basketball has officially entered the race for Lucas Morillo, a versatile combo guard from The Newman School (Mass.).
Morillo, a 6-foot-7, 180-pound rising senior, announced on Saturday via social media that he received a scholarship offer from first-year Wolfpack head coach Will Wade. The offer comes on the heels of an impressive showing at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Switzerland, where he averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while representing the Dominican Republic, which finished 15th in the tournament.
Lucas Morillo made his debut on the 247Sports 2026 Composite less than a month ago and has quickly climbed the rankings, now sitting at No. 129 overall in the class.
In a recent scouting report, NYCHoops analyst Zach Smart praised the four-star guard’s versatile game: “With his purity of vision as a play-creator, capable of delivering assists with either hand and controlling the tempo, Morillo is a natural game manager.”
Smart added, “He’s evolved into more of a scoring threat with a smooth pull-up jumper, reliable mid-range game, and strong downhill attack. His combination of positional size and polished skills makes him a tough matchup. Morillo has increased his scoring output and embraced a larger role as a go-to option.”
Will Wade and his rapidly rising NC State basketball recruiting staff have extended scholarship offers to more than a dozen prospects in the 2026 class.
