Top-Ranked Guard Added to NC State Basketball Recruiting Wishlist

As predicted last week by NC State Wolfpack On SI, Montverde Academy (Fla.) five-star King Gibson has received a scholarship offer from NC State basketball’s first-year head coach Will Wade and the Wolfpack.

Gibson, a North Carolina native also drawing interest from ACC Tobacco Road rivals Duke and UNC for the 2027 class, announced his NC State offer through a social media post on Saturday.

Following his unofficial visit to Raleigh, the NC State Wolfpack coaching staff joined the competitive recruitment race for Montverde Academy’s five-star guard King Gibson. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound North Carolina native is ranked No. 14 overall and No. 1 among combo guards in the 247Sports 2027 Composite. Gibson has amassed over a dozen scholarship offers, with programs like Michigan, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Penn State among those vying for his commitment.

Will Wade and his NC State staff have been aggressively targeting 2027 prospects recently, with Montverde Academy’s five-star guard King Gibson standing out as a top priority for the Wolfpack in this recruiting cycle.
