First Summer Session
All signed players are expected to report to campus on Wednesday to begin summer strength & conditioning and skills training. Paul Mbiya is the only possible exception (TBD). Having only started playing organized basketball three years ago, Mbiya stands to benefit significantly from early participation, so the hope is he’ll arrive soon.
Open Roster Positions

Musa Sagnia remains a potential addition. He is currently playing for BAXI Manresa in the EuroLeague, with their regular season concluding on May 30.

PJ Haggerty is participating in the NBA Combine this week. All signs continue to point to NC State as his preferred destination if he opts to withdraw from the draft.

Ven-Allen Lubin (UNC) has been in contact with the coaching staff. Although his initial plan was to test the transfer portal and return to UNC, that now appears off the table. Lubin ended the season on a strong note playing at center.
NCAA Proposed Rule Changes
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee met this week and submitted several proposed rule changes, pending approval by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on June 10. Notable recommendations include:

Introduction of a coach’s challenge at any point in the game to review out-of-bounds calls, basket interference/goaltending, and restricted-area arc violations.

Adjustments to the interpretation of continuous motion during field goal attempts.

Officials may now assess a Flagrant 1 foul for groin contact (“The Hodge Rule”), resulting in two free throws and possession.

Using the rim to gain advantage would be classified as basket interference.

If one shot clock fails, the other may remain active—currently, both must be shut off.

A working group is being proposed to evaluate a transition from halves to quarters in Division I play.
