32-Game Regular Season Approved

Starting in the 2026–27 season, NCAA men’s and women’s basketball teams will be allowed to play up to 32 regular-season games. While the official reasoning highlights flexibility for popular multi-team events (MTEs) and better late-season non-conference matchups, the driving force is clear: more games mean more revenue.

Tournament Expansion on the Horizon?

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the NCAA is expected to vote in the coming weeks on whether to expand the NCAA Tournament. The three current options under discussion are:
a) no expansion,
b) expand to 72 teams, or
c) expand to 76 teams.

Proposals beyond 76 teams are reportedly not under consideration at this time.
