Averaging 1.4 made three-pointers in under 20 minutes per game off the bench throughout his career, NC State basketball transfer Jerry Deng has connected on 38.0 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
As highlighted by the NC State basketball social media team through clips showcasing his smooth shooting stroke, the 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward could emerge as a dangerous perimeter threat for Will Wade’s inaugural Wolfpack roster.
“Jerry is a tall and long forward who’s going to be a really good fit in our system,” said 42-year-old head coach Will Wade last week as he officially announced NC State’s signing of 21-year-old Jerry Deng. A former three-star recruit out of Georgia, Deng previously played one season each at Hampton and Florida State. “He’s a highly skilled off-ball player with a strong catch-and-shoot game who will really help us space the floor offensively.
“He brings great energy, has solid instincts, and understands how to play the game. I think he’ll thrive in our program.”
Deng, who once erupted for 37 points in a college game, is ranked No. 274 overall in the transfer portal and is one of six key additions for NC State this cycle. The Wolfpack’s current transfer class ranks No. 36 nationally, according to 247Sports.
