The Dallas Cowboys are heading into a new cwshapter under Brian Schottenheimer, but predictions suggest they could begin the 2025 NFL season with a tough losing streak.
The Dallas Cowboys are facing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL for the 2025 season, leading some analysts to paint a bleak picture for the team’s early performance. They kick off the season with a challenging road game against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition to their home-and-away matchups with NFC East rivals, the Cowboys will also take on teams from the AFC West, NFC North, as well as the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers.
Three of Dallas’ first five games will be on the road—against the Eagles, Chicago Bears, and Jets—and one NFL analyst predicts the team might go a full month before notching their first win.
CBS Sports’ Mike Renner has forecasted that the Cowboys will begin the season with five straight losses.
A 6-11 finish to kick off the Schottenheimer era would be a significant letdown for everyone involved with the Cowboys.

Starting the season 0-5 could effectively doom Dallas’ playoff hopes early, especially with a punishing six-game stretch late in the season. From Weeks 12 to 17, the Cowboys are set to face the Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders—an unforgiving gauntlet that could make a comeback nearly impossible.
This marks the first time in NFL history that a team will face six consecutive opponents who each recorded 11 or more wins the previous season.
The Cowboys and Eagles are set to launch the NFL regular season on Thursday, September 4, with kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
