TTUN Coach Sherrone Moore Knows Jeremiah Smith Is a Problem Michigan Has Yet to Solve
TTUN head coach Sherrone Moore isn’t sugarcoating reality—his Wolverines’ secondary isn’t ready for what Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is bringing to Ann Arbor this November.
Speaking at Big Ten Football Media Days, Moore acknowledged the challenge ahead without offering false bravado.
“He’s probably the best college football player that’s out there. He’s elite,” Moore said, via Eleven Warriors.
“You’ve got to do everything you can to take the game out of his hands—but it’s going to be hard to do that. So you have to do everything you can as a team to go win. Offensively, special teams, and defensively—it’s got to be a team effort to win that game. We’ll get to that game when we get there. We think about that game enough. But [last season’s win] was an awesome performance from Wink Martindale and our staff.”
Smith, for his part, has the Wolverines in his sights.
Cleveland.com’s Jimmy Watkins called the Buckeyes’ sophomore star the “perfect messenger” for the hatred OSU holds for TTUN. And it’s clear Smith isn’t looking to be polite when The Game kicks off during rivalry week. Despite winning a national title, he’s still hearing about how it’s been over a thousand days since Ohio State last beat Michigan. That fire’s lit.
But don’t think the Wolverines aren’t ready for the smoke.
EDGE rusher Derrick Moore made his stance clear during Media Days.
“All I can say to that is, see y’all in November,” Moore said. “If that’s how he feels, that’s how he feels—but when November comes around and it’s time to play, we’re gonna see.”
After splitting the last two national championships, the next chapter of The Game carries more weight than ever. Rivalry pride is on the line. Playoff stakes loom.
And gold? Gold is heavy.
