BREAKIND NEWS: Oklahoma Recruiting Update: Key 2026 Sooners Targets Nearing Decisions

Sooners Illustrated Podcast: Latest Recruiting News, AD Search & More

The Sooners Illustrated Podcast returns with a brand-new episode following a major commitment and ahead of a pivotal recruiting weekend for Oklahoma football.

Hosts Josh Callaway and Collin Kennedy dive into all the latest happenings on the recruiting trail, starting with the recent pledge from 2026 tight end Tyler Ruxer.

“Ruxer is pretty high up there in terms of how he is thought of in relation to the other commits in this class, and rightfully so,” Kennedy said. “He’s one heck of a football player… This is going to be someone with a chance to rise up even further in the rankings.”

The episode also covers the Sooners’ pursuit of several top targets, including edge rusher Jake Kreul, wide receiver Jordan Clay, and safety Jacob Eberhart.

Shifting gears, the crew examines the early stages of Oklahoma’s search for a new athletic director, following the retirement announcement from longtime AD Joe Castiglione.

“I lean a sitting AD,” Callaway said regarding the potential hire. “But I wouldn’t necessarily rule out anything… and I mostly/fully expect it to be an outside hire.”

“I could see them making this hire during the football season, after the season, or even after the school year. The timeline could really vary.”
