Sooners Illustrated Podcast Returns After Recruiting Setbacks, Ahead of SEC Media Days Spotlight
After a tough weekend on the recruiting front and with Oklahoma preparing to step into the national spotlight at SEC Media Days, the Sooners Illustrated Podcast is back with a brand new episode.
Josh Callaway and Collin Kennedy of Sooners Illustrated kick things off by diving into the current state of OU recruiting. With a few key targets choosing other programs over the weekend, there’s growing unease among the Sooner faithful.
“It’s never fun to miss out on guys you’re going after,” Kennedy said. “That said, you always have to assess whether Oklahoma was truly in it and how strong the relationships were. I don’t blame fans for being concerned — they have every right to be a little inquisitive about why some decisions aren’t going OU’s way right now.”
The episode then shifts to SEC Media Days in Atlanta, where Oklahoma will be making its long-anticipated debut. Callaway and Kennedy break down what they’re most eager to hear — both from Brent Venables and from around the conference.
“For me, one thing that stands out with Brent is his relationship with Jim Nagy and how that dynamic has evolved,” Callaway said. “They’ve had the whole summer and the post-spring portal window — I’m very curious to hear Brent’s take on how it’s all coming together.”
