PFF did not place the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback in the top quarterback tier.
The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off winning their second Super Bowl in team history, thanks in large part to the exceptional performance of their quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
However, some still don’t consider him among the top quarterbacks.
In a recent piece by PFF’s John Kosko ranking all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of the 2025 season, Kosko divided the players into tiers, with the best labeled as “elite.” Despite Hurts’ accomplishments, he was absent from that top tier.
“Jalen Hurts’ 2024 season — capped by an outstanding Super Bowl run — marked a strong rebound after a challenging 2023,” Kosko writes. “A year ago, Hurts often forced plays in big moments and faltered under pressure, but this season he turned things around, showing composure even when plays broke down. Following a sluggish start, he found his stride and stepped up when it counted most. Across the last three seasons, his 91.5 overall grade ranks fifth among quarterbacks.”
Despite these glowing remarks, Hurts was slotted into the “high-end starters” tier, just below the top quarterbacks.
It’s surprising that a Super Bowl victory and four straight seasons with over 600 rushing yards didn’t earn the 26-year-old a higher spot.
But that likely means Hurts will approach the 2025 season eager to silence the doubters and help the Eagles defend their championship.
