FAYETTEVILLE — The odyssey of another 12-game football season is about to begin for the Arkansas Razorbacks, who will kick off their 2025 campaign Saturday with a 3:15 p.m. home game against Alabama A&M at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The matchup marks the start of what promises to be a grueling year. Arkansas faces one of the nation’s toughest schedules, featuring six opponents ranked in the preseason AP Top 25. That gauntlet includes No. 1 Texas, No. 6 Notre Dame, and No. 24 Tennessee — each of which earned spots in last season’s College Football Playoff. The Razorbacks will also line up against No. 9 LSU, No. 19 Texas A&M, and No. 21 Ole Miss, along with nonconference showdowns against Memphis and Missouri, both of whom finished last year in the CFP’s final top 25.
Saturday’s opener figures to be the most forgiving test on paper. Alabama A&M, a Football Championship Subdivision program, finished 6-6 last season and enters 2025 under new head coach Sam Shade, a former standout at Alabama. While the Bulldogs may not offer the resistance that looms later in the schedule, they bring a fresh identity under Shade’s leadership.
For the Razorbacks, the challenge will be maintaining consistency through the highs, lows, and everything in between as they navigate a demanding slate that will test depth, resilience, and fan fervor across the fall.
