The Latest Injury News for Virginia Tech After Facing South Carolina

South Carolina left Atlanta with a 24-11 win over Virginia Tech, but the Gamecocks didn’t escape without setbacks. Several players went down with injuries, the most significant being cornerback Judge Collier. The junior defensive back exited in the first quarter after attempting a diving tackle, later seen on crutches with a bulky brace on his left knee. Head coach Shane Beamer confirmed Tuesday that Collier, along with edge rusher Jatius Geer, is “doubtful for this week, but thankfully it won’t be long term. … They’re trying like heck to get back.”

Beamer noted that initial fears of a serious injury for Collier have been eased. In addition to him and Geer, defensive back Gerald Kilgore also left Sunday’s game, walking off the field with a bloody left hand.

Another player to watch is freshman offensive lineman Shedrick Sarratt Jr., a four-star recruit from Gaffney who enrolled in January. Sarratt, dealing with an injury for several weeks, did not travel with the team to Atlanta. Beamer said he would have played a role in the opener had he been healthy.
