As new Indiana coach Darian DeVries builds his first roster in Bloomington, the transfer portal is key to shaping the 2025-26 team. One name drawing attention: Texas Tech’s Federiko Federiko.

Background
Federiko, 23, has one year of eligibility left and brings experience from the high-major level. Born in Cairo and raised in Finland, he came to the U.S. for high school and began his college career at Northern Oklahoma, a JUCO. He earned All-America honorable mention and averaged 11.7 points and 8.6 rebounds in one season.
He transferred to Pittsburgh in 2022, where he had his best season as a sophomore:

2023-24 (Pitt): 5.7 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.5 BPG
Federiko moved to Texas Tech for 2024-25, helping the Red Raiders reach the Elite Eight with a 28-9 record.
Fit with Indiana
Federiko brings elite finishing and rebounding. He ranked 28th nationally in offensive rebounding percentage (14.4) and shot 74.3% from the field last season—9th best in the country. A strong rim protector, he’s consistently been among conference leaders in block percentage.
Indiana, as reported by On3’s Joe Tipton, is among several schools showing interest. Federiko’s extra year of eligibility was made possible by a JUCO-related waiver ruling in January.
With his ability to rebound, defend, and finish efficiently, Federiko fits the mold of what IU is looking for in the frontcourt—and he won’t be short on suitors.
