
Seth Trimble, a senior guard who averaged 11.6 points per game last season, is the lone returning member of the 2024-25 North Carolina Tar Heels’ regular rotation. While the team is set to add five-star freshman forward Caleb Wilson, head coach Hubert Davis and his staff have yet to secure a five-star transfer from this year’s portal.

Unless UNC makes a significant late addition, national expectations for the 2025-26 season remain modest.
The Tar Heels might not even be projected to finish in the top three of the ACC.
On Tuesday, Rob Dauster of The Field of 68 excluded UNC from his preseason top 25 — the latest in a trend of subdued outlooks for the program. His list featured just three ACC teams: Louisville at No. 5, Duke at No. 8, and NC State at No. 25.

As previously noted by North Carolina Tar Heels On SI, the UNC basketball program hasn’t entered a season ranked behind both Duke and NC State in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll since the 2012-13 campaign.
