UNC head coach Hubert Davis is making a bold push on the 2026 recruiting trail, targeting three elite prospects ranked in the top 10 nationally by On3.
Jordan Smith Jr. — a 6’2″ guard from Paul VI (VA) — is ranked No. 4 in the country and holds nearly 30 Power 5 offers. He’s already visited Duke, Louisville, Georgetown, and Syracuse, with Kentucky and Arkansas visits planned. Davis has closely tracked Smith’s play with Team Takeover during the EYBL spring sessions, signaling serious interest.
Caleb Holt, a 6’5″ wing from Grayson High (GA), is another Tar Heel target. He’s taken one official visit (Ole Miss), but UNC was front and center at his recent Adidas 3SSB Circuit appearance. While Holt has an offer from the Heels, no official visit is on the books—yet.
Rounding out the trio is Anthony Thompson, a versatile 6’8″ forward out of Western Reserve Academy (OH). Ranked No. 5 nationally, Thompson recently released a top 15 list that includes UNC. A campus visit is the next key step, with plans to commit during the early signing period.
Landing even one of these highly touted recruits would be a major win for the Tar Heels. Securing two—or sweeping all three—could launch UNC’s 2026 class into the top spot nationally.
