Alyssa Ustby Signs with Panthers Roseto in Italy
Alyssa Ustby is headed overseas! The former UNC women’s basketball standout has officially signed with Panthers Roseto, a professional team competing in Italy’s top-tier women’s league, the Lega Basket Femminile (LBF).
In the team’s official Instagram announcement, head coach Simone Righi praised Ustby’s versatility and energy:
“Ustby will be a key player for our team because she can fill multiple roles. Her versatility allows her to play as a four, but also step outside or even serve as a tactical five. What impressed me most was the incredible energy she brings on both ends of the court. She attacks one-on-one with intensity and can knock down the three. Beyond her technical skills, she’s shown strong character and enthusiasm for this new experience outside the U.S. I’m confident that in a warm, welcoming environment like Roseto, she’ll grow both personally and become a leader for our team.”
Ustby becomes the third member of last season’s Tar Heel squad to sign an international contract. Teammates Lexi Donarski and Maria Gakdeng are both headed to Hungary, while Ustby—fresh off competing at Spokane Hoopfest—is bound for Italy.
As the WNBA prepares to expand in the coming years, the hope is that more roster spots will open up for talented players like Ustby. For now, she’ll continue to showcase her skills on the international stage—proving she’s more than ready when her opportunity at home arrives.
