Exactly how hot Pry’s seat is remains uncertain. If the Hokies stumble out of the gate again, would the administration consider making a move midseason? Or will he be given the full year to right the ship? Those questions loom large, but one clear path to stability is improving in close games—an area that has plagued Pry since arriving from Penn State.
The general sense is that reaching six wins and becoming bowl-eligible would likely be enough to buy Pry another year. But anything short of that, particularly another sub-.500 finish, could put his future in serious jeopardy. Either way, tangible progress is a must this fall.
