Relentless Woodson Emerging as Hokies’ Linebacker Leader
BLACKSBURG — Watch Caleb Woodson for just one play at a Virginia Tech practice and it’s clear what the junior linebacker brings every rep — pure, unyielding energy.
There’s no dragging, no slumping, no letup — just an infectious relentlessness that has coaches raving.
“He practices as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen,” linebackers coach Xavier Adibi said.
That intensity has already earned Woodson a coveted honor: he’s been an early keeper of Tech’s famed Lunch Pail this August, taking it from long-time holder Kemari Copeland.
For the Hokies, his fast start could be exactly what the defense needs. After years of searching for a headliner at linebacker, Woodson’s emergence suggests the wait might be over.
