JUST IN: ECU Plans to Employ ex-North Carolina Cornerbacks Coach Jason Jones for the Same Role.

East Carolina University is set to hire Jason Jones as their new cornerbacks coach, following his recent tenure at the University of North Carolina. This move comes as the Pirates look to strengthen their defensive backfield ahead of the 2025 season.

Jones, a veteran coach with over 21 years of experience, joined UNC in January 2023 and quickly made an impact on their secondary. During his time with the Tar Heels, he was instrumental in developing players and enhancing the overall performance of the cornerback unit.

At ECU, Jones will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to a program that is eager to improve its defensive capabilities. His track record includes coaching nine first-team all-conference honorees and mentoring several players who have gone on to earn national recognition, including Jim Thorpe Award semifinalists.

The Pirates’ decision to hire Jones reflects their commitment to building a competitive team in the American Athletic Conference. With his extensive background in coaching cornerbacks at various institutions, including Ole Miss and Oklahoma State, Jones is expected to make an immediate impact on ECU’s defense.

As East Carolina prepares for the upcoming season, fans are optimistic about the potential improvements under Jones’s guidance. His hiring marks a significant step towards enhancing the Pirates’ defensive strategy as they aim for success in 2025.
