Central Oregon Firefighters Join the Battle Against California Wildfires!

Central Oregon firefighter Strike Team arrives in Los Angeles for role in protecting communities from growing wildfires.

A team of firefighters from Central Oregon arrived in Southern California on Thursday to begin preparations for deployment. Their mission is to help safeguard homes, businesses, and communities threatened by the devastating wildfires that have erupted this week.

“After inspections are completed, units will be assigned,” stated Redmond Fire & Rescue.Redmond was among several fire agencies from Central Oregon that the Oregon State Fire Marshal called upon to assist in combating the Palisades Fire and other recent wildfires fueled by Santa Ana winds reaching hurricane-force levels in many areas.

The strike team will be deployed for approximately two weeks as one of 15 structural-protection teams from Oregon, accompanied by five wildland firefighting teams dispatched by the Oregon Department of Forestry.
