Breaking News: Two Badgers Defensive Starters Will Come Back for their Final Year of College Football in 2025.

On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Badgers received significant news when standout cornerback Ricardo Hallman declared that he will be back for a fifth and final season, choosing to pass on the NFL Draft yet again.

That choice significantly enhances the cornerback group, given that Wisconsin previously had only two returning players: freshmen Omillio Agard and Jay Harper.

Indeed, he isn’t the sole senior anticipated to return for the Badgers, as sixth-year defensive lineman Ben Barten and outside linebacker Aaron Witt are also set to return for their final season, as reported by The Athletic’s Jesse Temple.

Barten, a starting player on the line this season, had an important role in early downs and is expected to be part of the rotation again, which will appear quite different with four new transfers joining the team.

Witt, whose responsibilities expanded as the season progressed, offers essential familiarity and experience at the outside linebacker spot, which also welcomed three new players through the transfer portal.

In 2024, both athletes might become starters, as Witt and Peterson are set to return as outside linebackers, and Barten is well-suited for the center of the defensive line.

Wisconsin’s defense is beginning to form for the 2025 season, and it’s promising that three defensive starters are coming back for their final year.
