Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and his team have been highly engaged during the early offseason, traveling across the country to meet numerous top prospects from the 2026 class and beyond.
This week was similar, as Cristobal and his staff were occupied on the recruiting trail, visiting numerous leading schools in the Miami region and beyond.

The Canes held their yearly Junior Day this week, welcoming numerous prospects to Coral Gables for a visit on campus. Check out the responses from a number of the leading talents in the Class of 2026.
This week, the Hurricanes made multiple offers not just to other 2026 prospects, but also to players from the 2027 class and beyond.
Examining the Hurricanes’ current commitments, 2026 quarterback Dereon Coleman took part in the Battle 7-on-7 tournament this week and became the second Miami commit consecutively to not only win, but also be awarded MVP of the event. He teamed up with 2025 signee Luke Nickel after guiding team Defcon United to triumph.
This season, the skilled quarterback guided the Jones High School Tigers to a 14-1 record and passed for more than 3,400 yards and 28 touchdowns with over 70 percent completion.
2026 running back Derek Cooper, who is a key target for the Canes, revealed his top ten schools this week, naming Miami alongside Georgia, Florida State, Alabama, Florida, Penn State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Auburn.
Fellow elite 2026 recruit, 5-Star wide receiver Tristan Keys, also included the Hurricanes in his list of final schools alongside LSU, Auburn, USC, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Alabama.
